Wazirabad is an industrial city located in Gujranwala District Punjab.Wazirabad is situated on the banks of the Chenab River nearly 100 kilometres north of Lahore. It is 45 kilometres from Sialkot, 30 kilometres from the district capital – Gujranwala and about 12 kilometres from Gujarat.
Wazirabad is internationally famous for its fine quality cutlery products such as hunting knives, pocket knives, daggers, swords, axes, laguiole knives, military knives, utensils, table cutlery, household and light industry products. The internationally renowned cutlery company Prime Steel Industries is also based in this city. There are approximately 300 units present in this region-about half of them are registered SMEs with Pakistan Cutlery & Stainless Steel Utensils Manufacturers & Exporters Association. There are about ten thousand persons employed in this sector directly and indirectly. The total production of this area is 5000 pcs per day approximately (standard size knife is taken as a piece). This is the main source of income for local people of this region. The articles of knives and Swords and Axes are 100% export oriented. Whereas, articles of kitchen knives and table cutlery including spoon and fork are supplied throughout the country, as well as exported.
Wazirabad is also famous for its leather products like leather garments, gloves, wallets, bags etc. The local industry is also engaged in the production of surgical instruments, beauty care products and sports goods.
